BG Pathum hand defender Cardozo a quick extension

Defender Victor Cardozo has vowed to help BG Pathum United sweep all domestic titles after signing a new contract with the Thai League 1 club.

The Brazilian, who only joined the Rabbits at the start of the 2020 season, yesterday inked a contract extension of which details were not disclosed.

With the 30-year-old star at the heart of their defence, promoted BG Pathum conceded only one goal in four games in Thai League 1 before the season was suspended in March due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

When the campaign resumes in September, he will partner Venezuelan defender Andres Tunez, who joined the club last month.

BG Pathum have also signed Thailand midfielder Sarach Yooyen.

"Andres and Sarach are players with quality and experience. They will surely be able to help our team," said Cardozo who has previously played for Chiang Rai United and now defunct PTT Rayong.

"We have a good team and a lot of good players. I believe that with the new players we will be successful.

"Every team is strong but we will try to win the league and cup titles. Everybody at BG Pathum deserves this."

He added: "My family and I have been in Thailand for six years and we are very happy to be here. I am glad to get a new contract with BG Pathum."

BG Pathum and Port are joint third in Thai League 1 with 10 points, two behind pacesetting duo Bangkok United and Ratchaburi.

Cardozo said it was a pity that the season was suspended as BG Pathum were playing well.

"I felt that I was getting better and better with the team. But it was unfortunate that the season had to take a break due to the Covid-19 pandemic."
