The Pun Pun Rak Chonburi Cycling 2020 will take place on Nov 15, organisers said.

The event will be held at the Royally-initiated Siri Charoenwat Forest Plantation Project in Sattahip, Chon Buri.

Thanasorn Dokduea, an official at Chon Buri's tourism office, said the event was aimed at encouraging people to use bicycles to help reduce air pollution.

It is also expected to boost the seaside province's economy which has been hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic.

"We invite cyclists from everywhere in Thailand to take part in the event," he said.

There are two categories covering 12km and 30km.

The event is being held using strict Covid-19 protocols, Thanasorn said.

Participants and their bicycles must be checked on the eve of the event to ensure safety for all parties, he said.

Mechai Leelachiewcharnkul, head of the Royally-initiated Siri Charoenwat Forest Plantation Project, said the venue has a beautiful cycling route with more than 200 curves and steep trails.

He added that those who want to take part in the event should have some bicycle skills.

The event is for fun and there will be gifts for participants through a lucky draw.
