True Bangkok United have signed striker Heberty Fernandes, the Thai League 1 club announced yesterday.

The 32-year-old Brazilian played for Port on loan from SCG Muang Thong United until the end of last month when his contracts with both clubs expired.

Heberty will reunite with Bangkok United coach Totchtawan 'Ban' Sripan after they helped Muang Thong win the Thai League 1 title in 2017.

"I am very happy to join Bangkok United," Heberty said.

He said he knew Totchtawan and some players at Bangkok United and this should help him settle in his new team quickly.

"I like to aim high because this will motivate me," Heberty said.

"So my target with Bangkok United is to help them win league and cup titles. I will try to score as many goals as I can."

After 13 games, Bangkok United are fifth in Thai League 1 on 20 points, trailing leaders BG Pathum United by a massive 15 points.

"We are far behind the leading teams in the league. But anything can happen in football and the leading teams may drop points," Heberty said.

Chiang Rai earn draw

Thai League 1 champions Chiang Rai United ended their AFC Champions League campaign on a high note when they held Beijing FC to a 1-1 draw on Thursday.

Ekanit Panya gave Chiang Rai the lead in the 55th minute and Beijing's A Lan made it 1-1 after 76 minutes.

"I am very happy to score my first AFC Champions League goal," said Thailand midfielder Ekanit.

"I have learned many things from this tournament. I hope we return to the tournament next season."

In their ACL debut, Chiang Rai finished last in Group E with five points, one behind FC Seoul.

Beijing, with 16 points, and Melbourne Victory, with seven, reached the knockout stages. All matches are being played in a "bubble" in Qatar.
