Japanese coach Masatada Ishii has extended his contract with Samut Prakan City for one more year and aims to develop the Thai League 1 side into a formidable team.

Samut Prakan City, who finished the coronavirus-hit 2020-21 season in sixth place recently, officially announced yesterday that they had extended Ishii's contract for another season.

The club management said they were happy with the results recorded by the team under Ishii last season although they missed their target of making it to the 2022 AFC Champions League.

Ishii thanked Samut Parkan City for keeping faith in him, adding: "It was difficult for me to turn down the offer because the club had been very supportive during the last season.

"I am setting the same target for myself again and that is to make Samut Prakan City a strong and quality team.

"I have seen the motivation this team has and I am very pleased to continue to be a part of the process to develop this club.

"I have a good working relationship with everyone here and the fans. We will all be working together again and I hope for better results in the new season."
