Thai League 1 champions BG Pathum United have appointed Aurelio Vidmar as their new coach.
The Rabbits announced his arrival yesterday before the start of the AFC Champions league and the new Thai League 1 season.
The Australian said he was more than happy to return to the club he had coached in the 2016-17 season.
"I'm happy to be back at this place again. It feels like I have never left," the 54-year-old coach said.
"I still followed BG Pathum United, and a group of staff coaches whom I had worked with during my first tenure are still at the club."
"Obviously, there have been several improvements from the stadium to the facilities as well as the players some of whom I had worked with so it wouldn't take long to adjust myself with the club.
"I'd like to congratulate the club for their incredible Thai League 1 title of the previous season. I hope this will be another good year in the league as well as in the group stage of the AFC Champions League. I will do my best to deliver the best outcomes for the club. I hope we will play our best football in both competitions."
He succeeds Dusit Chalermsan who left the team after guiding them to their first ever top flight title.
The former Socceroos midfielder will lead the Thais in Group F of the continental championship next month when they face defending champions Ulsan Hyundai from South Korea, Vietnam's Viettel, and either Shanghai Port, Kaya Iloilo or Brisbane Roar.
The 2021-22 Thai League 1 season also starts next month.
