Buriram United begin the defence of their Thai League 1 title at Nakhon Ratchasima today.

The Thunder Castle will want to get off to a fast start to regain confidence after losing to BG Pathum United in the Thailand Champions Cup last week.

Masatada Ishii's men will take on the Swat Cats at the 80th Birthday Stadium where they lost 3-2 to Pathum in the curtain-raising match.

Despite the loss, Ishii remains upbeat and aims for his team to repeat the feat of last season when they won all three major trophies.

"We will go for the titles -- it's my job," said the Japanese.

Their strike force is likely to be led by Suphanat Mueanta, Supachai Chaided and Jonathan Bolingi, who scored twice in the match against BG last week.

Nakhon Ratchasima is coached by Kevin Blackwell, who joined the Swat Cats in March and helped them avoid the drop.

Under the Englishman, Nakhon Ratchasima impressively finished in ninth place last term.

However, they will start underdogs against Buriram, who have won 13 times in 15 meetings with their northeastern rivals.

Also today, Muang Thong United will aim to start their campaign with a win at Ratchaburi.

The Kirins have brought in several players particularly forward Ekanit Panya and their former goalkeeper Kawin Thamsatchanan.

It is Mario Gjurovksi's third season as coach of Muang Thong and their bosses are confident that the Kirins are ready to end their title drought.

Meanwhile, English coach Scott Cooper should enjoy a winning start to his reign at Port.

The Lions begin their campaign at home against newcomers Lamphun Warriors tomorrow.
