After scoring two sensational knockouts in ONE Championship, Thai rising star Sinsamut Klinmee is preparing for the toughest challenge of his young career.

On 21 October, the 26-year-old Pattaya resident will challenge dominant ONE lightweight kickboxing world champion Regian Eersel for the inaugural ONE lightweight Muay Thai world title at ONE 162 in Kuala Lumpur.

Sinsamut crashed onto the global scene by scorching former ONE lightweight kickboxing world title challenger Nieky Holzken in March of this year at ONE X. The Thai needed only a round and a half to stun “The Natural” with a blistering right punch.

The victory brought him instant recognition in the kickboxing world, as Holzken has been a legend in the sport for more than a decade.

Sinsamut then followed that win with another second-round finish of British striker Liam Nolan at ONE 159 this past July. On this occasion, it was a left hook that scored him the highlight-reel victory.

Those performances earned Sinsamut a shot at Eersel for the inaugural Muay Thai strap, a man who has been unbeatable in ONE– and for most of his career.

After winning his first two bouts in the organization, Eersel battled Holzken for the inaugural ONE lightweight kickboxing world title in October 2019. He won the matchup by unanimous decision and has since defended the throne four times.

With a 57-4 professional record, Eersel will surely be Sinsamut’s greatest challenge to date – or will Sinsamut be his?

Fans have criticized Eersel for not finishing fights, and it’s something he’s gone on record to address. On the other hand, Sinsamut loves to hunt for knockouts, and he does so in spectacular fashion.

The only question that remains is whether the Venum Training Camp product will be able to finish Eersel. After all, the Dutch-Surinamese king has never been stopped in 61 fights.

No matter which way this world title showdown goes, expect an entertaining affair between a dominant kickboxing champion and one of the hardest hitting strikers in ONE.
