The Bangkok Post's predictions on matches.

England v Iran

Iran, who drew with Cristiano Ronaldo-led Portugal in the 2018 World Cup, are no pushovers, featuring Porto striker Mehdi Taremi. However, England should be too good for the Asian side. England striker Harry Kane likes to score against lower-ranked team. He scored three goals against Panama and two against Tunisia at Russia 2018 so he should open his Qatar 2022 account in this game.

Prediction: England 2-0

Netherlands v Senegal

The Netherlands are one of the favourites to lift the trophy in Qatar and they should win all their Group A games against Senegal, Qatar and Ecuador. Without talisman Sadio Mane, who is ruled out of the tournament due to injury, Senegal are like the toothless Lions.

Prediction: Netherlands 2-0

USA v Wales

The USA are a young team, led by 'Captain America' Christian Pulisic. Gareth Bale was one of Wales' key players in the qualifying round and his experience in Major League Soccer could be helpful. If Bale is fit, the Dragons should get a result.

Prediction: 1-1
