Former champions Muang Thong United have bolstered their squad for the second leg of Thai League 1, which kicks off this weekend, by adding six players to their roster.

The top-flight club's president Viluck Lohthong unveiled attacking midfielder Willian Popp of Brazil, Thailand right back Jaroensak Wonggorn, goalkeeper Patiwat Kummai, Kannarin Tawonsak, Kritsanaprom Boonsarn and and Kana Kumyok as their new signings yesterday.

The Kirins' director Ronnarit Suewaja told the media that the team were keeping faith with coach Mario Gjurovski.

"Mario has been with us for a long time and is helping us build a new team who have the Muang Thong DNA. We haven't done well this season and are in the 10th place, but we believe we are good enough to be among the top five."

Gjurovski said he was happy that the Kirins have been backing his plans for the development of the team.

Muang Thong start the second leg of the league at Lampang FC tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Thailand have been invited by the West Asian Football Federation (Waff) to participate in the region's 10th men's championship in the UAE from March 18 to April 3.

The 12 teams participating in the tournament are Bahrain, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Syria, UAE, Yemen and Thailand.

To allow the Thai national team to prepare and participate in the Waff event, the schedule of Thai League 1 has been altered. The games set for March 18-19 will now be played a couple of days before their schedule, while the matches slated for April 1-2 have been postponed to April 18-19.
