Port, Spanish side Levante form alliance

Thai League 1 club Port and Spanish second division side Levante sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for football development yesterday.

The deal was signed by Port chairwoman Nualphan Lamsam and Levante director and technical chairman Daniel Pastor Tort at the Thai club's PAT Stadium.

"We feel great and honoured to be in alliance with a European club for the first time," Nualphan said.

"This will help upgrade and develop our team in various aspects on and off the pitch."

Port will have a chance to send players to train in Spain, among other activities, said Nualphan, who is affectionately called "Madam Pang" by the media and fans.

She said the co-operation will make Port become stronger.

"This is good not only for our club but also for the Thai national team in the future," said Nualphan, who is also manager of the Thai national side.

Tort said: "We are very pleased and honoured to join hands with one of the oldest teams in Thailand. We know that Port are a big team and have ambition to become successful.

"We are looking for chances to upgrade and develop our teams together. We are pleased to welcome Port players and coaching staff to Spain."

Buriram reprimanded

The Football Association of Thailand (FAT) has reprimanded Thai League 1 leaders Buriram United for installing a CCTV in the visiting team's dress room at their Chang Arena.

Chonburi called for an explanation from the FAT and Buriram after they saw a CCTV in their dressing room at Chang Arena during their T1 match at the weekend.

The FAT said yesterday the Thunder Castle violated the rules but this was their first offence so the organisation only issued a reprimand and told them to remove the equipment.

Buriram offered an apology and an explanation.

They said there are a lot of CCTVs at the stadium for security reasons as a number of people often visit the venue for a stadium tour or other activities.

They promised to remove the one in the visiting team's dressing room during match days.
