Thailand thrash Canada, seal berth in quarter-finals

Thailand defeated Canada 4-1 for their second win in Group B at the BWF Sudirman Cup Finals in Suzhou, China, on Tuesday.

The Thais and Indonesia, who beat Germany 4-1 for their second victory on Tuesday, have booked places in quarter-finals with two wins. Canada and Germany are both 0-2.

Thai mixed doubles pair Supak Jomkoh and Supissara Kaewsampran beat Ty Alexander Lindeman and Jodephine Wu 21-16, 21-12 in the opening match.

Men's singles star Kantaphon Wangcharoen fell to Brian Yang 21-17, 22-20 in the second match as Canada pulled level.

Ratchanok Intanon then gave Thailand an edge after she battled past Michelle Li 21-14, 18-21, 22-20 in the women's singles tie.

Men's doubles duo Kittinupong Kedren and Dechapol Puavaranukroh beat Adam Dong and Nyl Yakura 21-19, 21-8.

Aimsaard sisters Benyapa and Nuntakarn wrapped up the tie for Thailand with a 21-5, 21-14 victory over Catherine Choi and Wu.

Thailand had defeated Germany 4-1 in their opening match on Monday.

Thailand will play Indonesia tomorrow to decide group winners while Germany will take on Canada on the same day.

The top two teams in each of the four groups advance to the quarter-finals of the mixed team competition which ends on Sunday.
