Buriram United completed a sweep of domestic titles when they defeated Bangkok United 2-0 in the title showdown at True Stadium (Thammasat Stadium) last night.

Given their form, Buriram were the favourites to achieve the feat and the northeastern giants remained unruffled by the fact that last night's battle was fought at the Angels' home ground.

Jonathan Bolingi was in limelight throughout the match but would regret getting red-carded in added time.

After scoring both goals for Buriram, he was sent off for grabbing Rungrath Poomjanthuek's throat after a brief altercation in the dying moments of the match.

The Thunder Castle started off the first half briskly and Supachai Chaided wasted an early opportunity by firing over the bar.

Bangkok United came even closer when Vander Luis was denied by Buriram goalkeeper Siwarak Tedsungnoen.

The first goal in the 18th minute was the result of a defensive blunder by Bangkok United defender Manuel Tom Bihr.

Bihr's feeble push back to goalkeeper Michael Falkesgaard was stolen by Bolingi as he had little trouble in putting the defending champions 1-0 ahead.

After conceding the goal, Bangkok United started mounting pressure on Buriram and saw Willen Mota fire a shot over the bar.

Young Suphanat Mueanta did well to bring a long ball from Dion Cools down but attempt at goal was warded off by Bihr.

The Thunder Castle got their second goal during the three-minute injury time of the first half when Theerathon Bunmathan's corner kick was headed home by Bolingi.

Buriram, coached by Japanese Masatada Ishii, claimed the coveted Thai League 1 crown late last month. They lost only two of the 30 games played in the top flight this season.

They then followed it up with a 2-0 victory over former Thai league champions BG Pathum United in League Cup title showdown on May 20.
