Khunying Patama Leeswadtrakul, a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Vice President of the Badminton World Federation, and President of the Badminton Association of Thailand, congratulated Ratchanok Intanon for defeating world number three Tai Tzu-ying from Taiwan and advancing to the quarterfinals of the women's singles badminton event at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Tai, who has been playing with both knees in braces during the Paris Games, had previously revealed an issue with her left knee and withdrew from the Singapore Open earlier this year.

Ratchanok, now 29 years old and competing in her fourth Olympics, triumphed over her long-time rival in straight sets, 21-19, 21-15.
