Newly minted ONE Championship fighter Parham Gheirati is living his “dream” after a knockout victory last weekend earned him a US$100,000 contract.
The Iranian bantamweight delivered a thrilling third-round finish against the UK’s George Mouzakitis at ONE Friday Fights 84, securing himself a 350,000 baht performance bonus too.
“I'd like to thank ONE for giving me the contract,” Gheraiti told the Bangkok Post. “It's always been my dream to become a ONE fighter. Now I have a chance to live the life I dreamed of.
“I’d like to thank everyone for supporting me. I just realised I had more fans than I'd ever expected. Thank you for all your kind messages.
“I promise you'll see more of me. This was not my best performance. I promise to keep improving, and to keep getting better in ONE.”
It was a sixth straight win for the 20-year-old – and a fourth finish – in as many fights at Lumpinee Stadium.
ONE chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong was seemingly left with little choice other than to call him up to the promotion’s main roster.
“I feel really good. I trained really hard for this fight,” added Gherati, who trains out of Pattaya’s Petchsaman gym.
“I came into this game with my mind set to knock out my opponent. It was my intention to finish the fight.”
