A late equaliser by substitute Sanchai Nontasila rescued a point for hosts BG Pathum United against the Vietnamese club, Dong A Thanh Hoa, in a 1-1 draw in the Asean Club Championship or Shopee Cup on Wednesday night.

The result leaves the knockout stage qualification hopes of both sides in the balance.

Thanh Hoa started strongly when their captain Doan Ngoc Tan opened the scoring for the visitors in the Group A match against the run of play, before BG Pathum substitute Sanchai grabbed the leveller two minutes from time in a well-deserved draw for the Thai League 1 club.

Both sides have five points from three games with two more games to play.

Pathum's next opponents will be Shan United in Myanmar on Jan 22, while Thanh Hoa will host Cambodian club Svay Rieng on the same day.

In other matches of the same group, Malaysia's Terengganu routed Shan United 5-0 while Svay Rieng lost 1-0 to PSM Makassar from Indonesia.

Victory for Port in T1

In a Thai League 1 match at PAT Stadium on Wednesday night, hosts Port claimed three points following a 2-1 victory over Lamphun Warriors.

Lonsana Doumbouya and Peeradol Chamratsamee scored in the 45th and 56th minutes to help Port grab a two-goal advantage. Lamphun got their only goal of the night from Mohammed Osman after 72 minutes.

Despite the victory, Port remain in third place in the top flight with 29 points. Lamphun Warriors are in 11th place with 17 points.

The second leg of Thai League 1 kicks off today after a break of more than a month to allow the Thai national team to participate in the Asean Championship.

The first match of the second leg will kick off at 7pm with Nongbua Pitchaya hosting PT Prachuap.

Pratchuap will be hoping to grab three points from the match, while Nongbua will be eager to get at least a point to stay out of the three-team relegation zone at the end of the week.
