Ratchanok Intanon booked her berth in the last 16 of the US$950,000 BWF India Open in New Delhi on Tuesday.

Ratchanok defeated Nozomi Okuhara 21-13, 21-15 to reach the last 16 of the World Tour Super 750 event.

Ratchanok will next play either top seed An Se-Young of South Korea or Chiu Pin-chien of Taiwan, who face off on Wednesday in the first round.

The other two Thai players in the women's singles draw are eighth seed Pornpawee Chochuwong and Pornpicha Choeikeewong.

Pornpawee will play Aakarshi Kashyap of India while Pornpicha will take on sixth seed Tomoka Miyazaki of Japan in their openers on Wednesday.

Women's doubles pair Ornnicha Jongsathapornparn and Sukitta Suwachai also advanced after they rallied to defeat Amrutha Pramuthesh and Sonali Singh of India 19-21, 21-15, 21-12.

They will play either fifth seeds Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand Pullela of India or Arisa Igarashi and Ayako Sakuramoto of Japan in the last 16.

Mixed doubles pair Ruttanapak Oupthong and Jhenicha Sudjaipraparat also came through their first hurdle, beating Liu Kuang-heng and Jheng Yu-chieh of Taiwan 21-18, 21-15.

They will play sixth seeds Cheng Xing and Zhang Chi of China in the last 16.

World champion Kunlavut Vitidsarn was to face Alex Lanier of France in the men's singles first round later last night.

Mixed doubles players Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Supissara Paewsampran, who won the season-opening Malaysia Open in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday, will begin their campaign on Wednesday against Tang Chun Man and Ng Tsz Yau of Hong Kong.
