Mixed doubles pair Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Supissara Paewsampran, along with women's singles star Pornpawee Chochuwong, advanced to the last 16 of the US$950,000 BWF India Open in New Delhi on Wednesday.

Fresh from winning the season-opening Malaysia Open in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday, Dechapol and Supissara continued their fine form as they defeated Tang Chun Man and Ng Tsz Yau of Hong Kong 21-17, 21-19 in their opening round.

The duo, who recently claimed their third title together, will face play third seeds Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei of Malaysia in the last 16 of the World Tour Super 750 event.

In the women's singles competition, eighth seed Pornpawee progressed with a 21-17, 21-13 victory over Aakarshi Kashyap of India. She will next play Gao Fangjie of China.

Pornpicha Choeikeewong, however, was defeated by sixth seed Tomoka Miyazaki of Japan 5-21, 24-22, 9-21. Miyazaki will face Anupama Upadhyaya of India in the last 16.

Two Thai women's doubles pairs exited the tournament in the first round on Wednesday.

Aimsaard sisters -- Benyapa and Nuntakarn -- lost to top-ranked Baek Ha-Na and Lee So-Hee of South Korea 21-19, 19-21, 20-22. Meanwhile Phattharin Aiamvareesrisakul and Sarisa Janpeng were beaten by Rutaparna Panda and Swetaparna Panda of India 21-7, 19-21, 14-21.

World champion Kunlavut Vitidsarn made an early exit, losing to Alex Lanier of France in the men's singles first round on Tuesday night.

Ratchanok-An showdown

Ratchanok Intanon will meet top seed An Se-Young of South Korea on Thursday in a rematch of the Malaysia Open semi-finals.

Olympic champion An won that clash and went on to claim the title in the Malaysian capital.

Women's doubles pair Ornnicha Jongsathapornparn and Sukitta Suwachai will play Arisa Igarashi and Ayako Sakuramoto of Japan.

Mixed doubles duo Ruttanapak Oupthong and Jhenicha Sudjaipraparat are set to face sixth seeds Cheng Xing and Zhang Chi of China.
