
World champion Kunlavut Vitidsarn and Ratchanok Intanon will lead the Thai challenge at the Princess Sirivannavari Thailand Masters 2025, which will take place from Jan 28 to Feb 2 at Nimibutr Stadium.
The BWF World Tour Super 300 event offers a total prize money of US$240,000 (approximately 8,160,000 baht).
Besides Olympic silver medallist Kunlavut and Ratchanok, other top Thai players who will take part in the tournament include Pornpawee Chochuwong, Busanan Ongbamrungphan, Dechapol Puavaranukroh, Supissara Paewsampran, Kittinupong Kedren, Benyapa Aimsaard, Nuntakarn Aimsaard, Supak Jomkoh and Sapsiree Taerattanachai.
Some of the overseas players who have confirmed their participation in the tournament are men's world No.16 Ng Ka Long of Hong Kong, world No.26 HS Prannoy of India, and women's world No.17 Putri Kusuma Wardani of Indonesia.
"Badminton fans can get ready to cheer Thai players next week as the Princess Sirivannavari Thailand Masters 2025 will be held at Nimibutr Stadium," said Khunying Patama Leeswadtrakul, president of the Badminton Association of Thailand, at a press conference. "Besides offering a chance for Thai players to gain world ranking points, the tournament will also boost tourism with its worldwide live broadcast," she added.
"Our rising star players will also have an opportunity to compete in a World Tour Super 300 event to gain valuable experience and improve themselves."
The tournament will begin with a qualifying competition and doubles first round matches on Jan 28. The singles first round matches will take place on Jan 29.
Doubles pair ousted
Women's doubles players Ornnicha Jongsathapornparn and Sukitta Suwachai bowed out in the first round of the BWF Indonesia Masters 2025 in Jakarta on Tuesday.
The Thai pair lost to Tanisha Crasto and Ashwini Ponnappa of India 6-21, 14-21.
Men's doubles pair Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Kittinupong Kedren were due to play their first round match later last night.
