BG Pathum United will face Myanmar's Shan United in their penultimate Group A fixture of the inaugural Asean Club Championship (Shopee Cup) at Thuwunna Stadium in Yangon today.
The Rabbits are in contention for a place in the semi-finals of the tournament.
With five points from three matches, they are level on points with second-placed Thanh Hoa of Veitnam and trail Group A toppers PSM Makassar by two points with two matches left.
The Thai side began their campaign with a goalless draw against PSM Makassar from Indonesia before they edged Cambodia's Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng 2-1 with goals from Raniel and Chanathip Songkrasin.
They held Thanh Hoa 1-1 next to maintain their unbeaten record in the competition.
However, the Rabbits are not in good form as they are on a four-match winless run in Thai League 1, and a win against Shan United could prove to be the perfect opportunity for Pathum to get back on the right track.
Pathum's interim coach Supachai Komsilp told a pre-match conference yesterday: "We are well-prepared for this trip as we must secure three points in this game to keep our chances of progressing to the next round alive.
In the other two matches of the same group, Terengganu of Malaysia will face PSM Makassar while Thanh Hoa will take on Svay Rieng.
Setbacks for Angels, Port
Bangkok United fell further behind in the Thai League 1 title race following an unexpected 1-1 draw at home against relegation-threatened Nakhon Pathom United on Monday night.
Peerapat Notechaiya's early strike for the Angels was cancelled out by Jennarong Phupha at the hour mark.
Things didn't go well for Port as well when the Khlong Toey-based side suffered a 3-2 defeat at Sukhothai.
