Mixed doubles players Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Supissara Paewsampran also progressed to the second round of the BWF World Tour Super 500 event.
World champion Kunlavut defeated Nguyen Nhat of Vietnam 21-9, 21-18. He will take on either Lu Guangzu of China or Lee Chia-hao of Taiwan in the men's singles last 16 at Istora Senayan Stadium on Thursday.
Ratchanok, meanwhile, fended off Tanya Hemanth of India 21-14, 21-11. She will next play Japan's Natsuki Nidaira.
Dechapol and Supissara, winners of the season-opening Malaysia Open, defeated Verrell Yustin Mulia and Pitha Haningtyas Mentari of Indonesia 21-19, 21-11.
They will play Yuta Watanabe and Maya Taguchi of Japan in the last 16.
In other results on Wednesday, Chi Yu-jen defeated Taiwanese compatriot Chou Tien-chen 21-17, 19-21, 21-15 in the men's singles event while Sung Shuo-yun of Taiwan beat Gao Fangjie of China 21-11, 17-21, 21-16 and Putri Kusuma Wardini of Indonesia beat Pai Yu-po of Taiwan 21-13, 21-14 in the women's event.
Thailand Masters draw
Top seed Kunlavut Vitidsarn has been drawn to face India's Tharun Mannepalli in the men's singles first round of the Princess Sirivannavari Thailand Masters 2025 next week.
Panitchaphon Teeraratsakul and Kantaphon Wangcharoen will face off in an all-Thai clash.
Ratchanok Intanon, who is seeded second, will face a qualifier in her first round match while top seed Pornpawee Chochuwong, a runner-up at the India Open on Sunday, will meet Thuzar Thet Htar of Myanmar in her opener.
The World Tour Super 300 event, which will take place from Jan 28 to Feb 2 at Nimibutr Stadium, offers a total prize money of US$240,000 (8,160,000 baht).
