Saturday’s ONE Championship event in Bangkok will go ahead without any major hiccups after Thursday’s official weigh-ins and hydration tests.
Three fighters failed to pass hydration for ONE Fight Night 29 – Soe Lin Oo, Parham Gheirati and Diogo Reis – but they are all likely to be well within the catchweight limit once they give a hydrated sample, should their opponents agree to face them.
Crucially, the main event for the ONE atomweight Muay Thai title will go ahead at Lumpinee Stadium as planned.
Champion Allycia Hellen Rodrigues and short notice challenger Marie McManamon both passed hydration and made weight without any issues at the host Centara Life hotel.
The co-main event took a hit, however, with Iran’s Gheirati again missing his marks for a bantamweight Muay Thai fight with Rambolek, despite three attempts during the official three-hour testing window.
Originally booked in January, the matchup was scrapped on the eve of ONE Fight Night 27 with Gheirati – who was set to make his debut after winning a contract on ONE Friday Fights – being outside the catchweight limit.
Shoya Ishiguro also struggled with hydration for his flyweight submission grappling match with Brazil’s two-time ADCC champion Reis, but passed at the third attempt.
Myanmar’s striking veteran Soe Lin Oo failed hydration for his second consecutive fight, despite four attempts, but opponent Dmitri Kovtun was on point for their bantamweight Muay Thai bout.
The rest of Saturday’s fights were unaffected and will go ahead at their contracted weights.
