Globish, an online startup English language school, is using a customised learning system to help learners feel more confident speaking a foreign language.

Globish says it is developing a learning system that can serve students' needs, offering a variety of coaching and language courses. The learning system is both web- and mobile-based, Chuencheewan Wongsaeree, founder of Globish, said.

"What makes Globish unique is that we're utilising a customised learning system that uses simple online technology. We understand that every minute is crucial to learning to achieve the specific goal of each student," she said.

Ms Chuencheewan, 25, said Globish's competitive advantage is that it has strong partners, including Mind English Institute, GMM Grammy, Ichitan Group and Boon Venture, giving it the capacity to customise learning courses for various students. The coaching selection is based on their personal goals.

Globish's unique video call app has been specifically developed by its team and differs from Skype or other standard video call apps. Live classes can be operated around the clock at the student's convenience.

"Our mobile and video call apps are the key to our success and our in-house education team is constantly developing these tools to focus on what students actually need," Ms Chuencheewan added.

Earlier this year, Globish triumphed on the television show Tiger Wings, receiving 3 million baht from Tan Passakornnatee of Ichitan and Paiboon Damrongchaitham of Grammy. The victory also led to more recognition among the general public.

After its launch nearly two years ago, Globish has seen enrolment grow 35% a month since January thanks to the TV show. About 90% of students are individuals and the rest corporate customers.

Next year the school aims for corporate students to account for 40% of the total as they have longer contracts, which will help ensure more stable growth in the future.

Ms Chuencheewan said Globish plans to expand into other Asean countries next year, starting with Vietnam and Indonesia.

"We aim to be a first-line online language school in Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia," she added.

Revenue is expected to grow 15% per month and Ms Chuencheewan set full-year revenue target at 8 million baht this year, thanks to its growing popularity. It projects to have more than 1,200 students by the year-end.

Globish started with a founding team of six specialising in many fields including teaching, fashion, mobile app development and digital advertising and it is now one of the fastest growing startups.
