Executives urged to pursue creativity, lifelong learning

Creative conception and a commitment to lifelong learning are two of the six skills that next-generation executives need to thrive in the future, says the head of Slingshot Group.

A survey by the consulting firm found employees and management must adapt to technological disruption, changing job characteristics and ways of working, said chief executive Sutisophan Chuaywongyart.

The essential skills listed in the report included creative conception or skills to think outside the box to create diverse and innovative strategies; logical investigation or the ability to use logical thinking or reasoning skills for analysis and assessment; and wicked problem self-efficiency, which is the skills to inspect and choose information from various sources to tackle complex problems.

The report also encouraged executives to work on finding a sense of connectedness, meaning the ability to relate and respond to others in a proper manner to build positive interactions and coexistence as needed.

Virtual collaboration is another necessary skill, meaning the ability to coordinate and work effectively through various channels without barriers of area and time.

The final skill was lifelong learning experimentation, which encourages executives to develop ongoing self-learning voluntarily.

"As a professional company in leadership and organisational development, Slingshot Group came up with the idea of developing an effective tool to help leaders and employees easily enhance their working skills without limitations," Ms Sutisophan said.

Slingshot also partnered with Globish Academia (Thailand) to launch the OMG e-coaching on-demand platform.

The coaching platform enables executives to learn from experienced coaches anywhere, any time, and is equipped with the tools to meet learning trends in the digital age and provide appropriate and efficient responses to the job market and professionals' needs.

Takarn Ananthothai, chief executive at Globish Academia (Thailand), said it is essential for organisations to adapt in the digital era by developing tools that help workers learn anywhere and at any time.

A rising edtech startup, Globish Academia has over 15,000 users in its online English learning platform in Thailand.

The OMG coaching-on-demand platform is created by leveraging the experiences on the online English-learning platform.

The platform includes one-on-one coaching through video calls, which means participants can see each other, send files to each other or write together on an online whiteboard.

The first programme on the platform is "Coaching in Transition".

Slingshot plans to develop further coaching programmes for business and personal development throughout life.

Ms Sutisophan said in the digital era, the platform helps organisations deal with digital disruption.

The tool helps people improve needed skills for the marketplace.

She said the platform is targeted at workers, businessmen, women, entrepreneurs and mid- to high-ranking executives.

After the launch, Slingshot expects to have at least 300 additional clients, while the coaching platform is expected to increase the company's revenue by 45%.
