Fixed broadband provider TrueOnline aims to more than double its subscriber base to 10 million over the next five years, from 4.6 million at present, following a surge in demand for smart home solutions.

The fixed broadband business arm of SET-listed True Corporation provides a variety of packages, with internet speeds of up to 2 gigabits per second covering 20 provinces.

The operator has recently launched a campaign called True Gigatex Pro Life, which focuses on smart home solutions with comprehensive offers.

Teeradet Dumrongbhalasitr, co-president of True Corporation, said the country's fixed broadband market has around 11 million households, or half of the nation's homes.

True has a 40% share of the overall market. Half of its subscribers have a service package with 1Gbps speed.

"The market now goes beyond just the speed of the internet. Solutions are needed to complement any home lifestyles, which cover smart home solutions, security and health," Mr Teeradet.

Mr Teeradet said True Gigatex Pro Life has five core benefits for customers.

The first lies in Pro HomeTech, which involves smart home solutions, and the second, called Pro Speed, concerns ultrafast internet speed assurance.

The third involves True Gigatex Flexi Pro, which enables users to adjust internet speeds in line with their lifestyles, such as online study, entertainment and gaming. The internet speed adjustment is meant for subscribers using packages with speeds of 1,000/500 megabits per second or more.

The fourth concerns Pro Content, which involves an internet set-top box that supports customers with content, and the last is called True Gigatex Tech Pro, which offers the highest level of after-sales services.

Tanapoom Pakvisal, director and head of commercial for TrueOnline, said the Pro HomeTech service will facilitate smart home features for customers.

It offers a discount for a CCTV cloud service with a free CCTV camera, as well as technologies to make users feel confident about home security, having a convenient life at home and maintaining good health.

The smart home features can be controlled through a single app, he said.

"Smart home, security and health are three core aspects for digital solutions via the fibre network," Mr Tanapoom said.

True Gigatex Pro Life packages start at 599 baht a month. Existing customers who sign up for the CCTV cloud service will be offered a discounted monthly rate of 99 baht.

TrueOnline also unveiled Kanchai "Num" Kamnerdploy, a professional news anchor and MC, as its latest brand ambassador for the campaign.
