TKC pivots to B10bn digital transformation market
SET-listed digital solutions provider Turnkey Communication Services (TKC) is pivoting towards six major smart solution sectors to capitalise on the megatrend of digital transformation, which currently has an annual market size of 10 billion baht.
The six sectors are: smart hospitals, smart airports, cybersecurity, smart platforms, smart government and smart farming.
The company entered into project contracts worth 700 million baht in the six sectors in the first half of this year, said Sayam Tiewtranon, chief executive and managing director of TKC.
These projects are expected to exponentially drive growth in the company's digital services, he said.
Digital services now contribute 20% of the firm's total revenue, which is expected to reach 30% over the next few years, Mr Sayam said.
Mr Sayam said this move will also speed up the firm's transition into a smart digital solutions provider, from a telecom and ICT service provider.
"Our smart solutions were launched in the final quarter of 2021. The combined value of the project contracts signed in the first half of this year was higher than the level we originally expected," Mr Sayam said.
Project contracts worth around 1 billion baht were originally expected this year, he noted.
At present, TKC's key business involves a broad range of services in connection with the ICT sector.
Mr Sayam said TKC is supporting the creation of a smart hospital prototype at Siriraj Hospital powered by 5G, hybrid cloud, artificial intelligence for emergency rooms, and health recording through blockchain technology.
The initial phase of the project contract is worth 100 million baht, with a plan to further expand to other phases, he noted.
As for smart airports, the company provides a real-time passenger tracking and counting system through the Internet of Things (IoT), smart CCTV and security systems for four airports, in contracts worth 350 million baht.
For cybersecurity, the company provides training for personnel at critical information infrastructure organisations, including managing the exams for internationally accredited diplomas.
Other services include supporting cybersecurity platforms, and consulting, designing, and deploying cybersecurity systems and solutions for large-scale, public, and vulnerable customers.
For smart platforms, TKC has installed an intelligent online notification system at the Technology Criminal Investigation Headquarters to let people lodge a police complaint about online fraud.
Officials can also use data analysis throughout the system.
Regarding smart government, the company developed a system for the Government Data Center and Cloud service, the country's largest central government cloud system.
As for smart farming, TKC initiated smart farming solutions late last year in Lampang province in cooperation with the Nuttabhum Foundation, including a drip irrigation system and the use of drones, sensor-based IoT equipment, and agricultural devices.
In the second quarter of 2022, TKC booked revenue of 612 million baht, up 3.7% year-on-year. Net profit reached 91 million baht in the second quarter, up 130% from the previous quarter.
In the final quarter, the company is due to sign 412 million baht's worth of project contracts. Its backlog of projects is now worth 3 billion baht.
