The broadcasting regulator has decided to slap a minimum fine of 50,000 baht on digital television operator GMM25 for violent scenes aired in its popular Club Friday to be Continued drama series.

The NBTC's broadcasting committee found the content of the show , which is part of the drama series, in violation of Section 37 of the Broadcasting Act.

Section 37 imposes certain bans for violations of the moral code of conduct and material that can adversely affect viewers' physical and mental health.

Pheun Rak Pheun Rai is advertised as being based on true stories. The show, rated "General", is broadcast from 8pm to 9.15pm on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Pakdee Manaves, the NBTC deputy secretary-general, said the show, which aired scenes of a rape and brutal assault of another female character, went too far in portraying the violation and humiliation of women.
