HAT YAI - Police raided a drug party in the southern business hub early on Thursday and arrested six partygoers, including a man who had his baby son with him.

Pol Capt Thanarak Borriraknarakul, chief of the anti-drug operation, said methamphetamine pills and crystal meth were found in the room at the Pink Resort, in the municipal area, during the pre-dawn raid.

Police detained six people after their urine samples tested positive for the drugs. They were charged with possession of illegal drugs, he said.

One of them was Veerapong Saengkhao, 31, who had taken his year-old son with him to the party.

Mr Veerapong, who also had baby bottles and diapers with him, said that after breaking up with his wife he had nobody to take care of the child, so he took him everywhere with him.

An employee at the resort and her two friends offered to take temporary care of the baby until the father could arrange his release on bail.
