PHITSANULOK: Police investigating a complaint of shots being fired at night in a village discovered a mini-arsenal when they searched the suspect's house in Muang district on Wednesday.
Chaichet Homsa-ard, 46, of moo 4 village in tambon Makham Sung, was found in possession of 37 guns, 528 live cartridges and a bullet-proof vest, Maj Gen Thaweesak Thaweesap, chief of the 39th Military Circle, said on Thursday.
He said there were 20 long-barrel shotguns and 17 pistols. Most of the firearms were registered, but most were not licensed to Mr Chaichet.
Mr Chaichet said all the weapons belonged to him, and said he was a gun collector. He was taken into custody and the weapons impounded.
The arrest followed a complaint that the gunshots had been fired at the village fund office late one night last week.
