Man arrested with 1.1m meth pills in Lampang

LAMPANG: A man was arrested in a sting operation that led to the seizure of 1.1 million methamphetamine pills from a storage area in Muang district of this northern province early on Sunday, according to media reports.

The arrest was made after a police team laid in wait at the mouth of a road to Ban Thung Kudai in tambon Pong Saen Thong, where a drug courier was to leave 4,000 meth pills for a police decoy to pick up.

At about 2.30am, a four-door Isuzu pick-up arrived and the man, later identified as Sarayut Ratanadilok Na Phuket, got put of the vehicle and dropped two bundles of meth pills at the spot.

That was when the police appeared and took the man into custody.

After a questioning session, the police proceeded to search a house at Moo 8 villlage in tambon Phra Bat. No illegal items were found in the house.

In a search of a cattle pen near the house, however, the police found a fertiliser sackcovered with a black plastic sheet. The sack contained 1,104,000 meth pills.

Mr Sarayut reportedly admitted the location had been used to store drugs before distribution to customers, saying he took orders and delivered the drugs to designated spots.
