NAKHON SI THAMMARAT: A car crash in Muang district has killed a baby girl and slightly injured three adults.

After being reported of the incident at 11.30am on Monday, Muang district police and rescue workers arrived at a u-turn spot on Nakhon-Pak Panang Road in tambon Bang Chak.

They found at the scene a golden Honda CRV with Nakhon Si Thammarat licence plates and a dent on a left door and a black Honda Civic with Surat Thani licence plates and a dent on the left front.

Three people were in the Civic — Chatchai Nakkaew, 33, of Pak Panag district, his wife Siriwan Kaewchimplee, 35, and their baby Papichaya Nakkaew, who was two years and eight months old.

They were taken to Maharaj Nakhon Si Thammarat Hospital where the baby was declared dead.

The couple, as well as the CRV's driver, suffered only minor injuries.

An initial investigation found Mr Chatchai was driving the Civic at a high speed when he saw the CRV making a U-turn ahead. He could not stop the car in time, causing the crash.
