Tuenjai Deetes and Angkhana Neelapaijit resigned from the National Human Rights Commission on Wednesday, saying the working environment was not conducive for them to perform effectively.

The women announced they have quit the seven-member commission two months ahead of the completion of their term. Earlier, two other commissioners, Surachet Satitniramai and Chartchai Suthiklom, also resigned.

With the resignation of the two women, the NHRC is now left with three members, which is not enough for it to function.

Wat Tingsamit, one of the three remaining commissioners said he did not expect picking temporary replacements would take long.
