Weekend train excursions to Pa Sak Jolasid dam from Nov 16

The State Railway of Thailand will operate special holiday trains from Bangkok to Pa Sak Jolasid Dam in Lop Buri from next month. Bookings open on Friday.

Ekkarat Sri-arayayanpong, head of SRT public relations, said on Thursday the round-trip weekend  excursions on the Bangkok-Pa Sak Jolasid route would run on Saturdays and Sundays from Nov 16 until late January next year.

The first trips would be on Nov 16 and 17. Later excursions would run on Nov 23, 24 and 30; Dec 1, 7, 8, 14, 15, 21 and 22; and Jan 11, 12, 18, 19, 25 and 26 -- 18 days in total.

Mr Ekkarat's Facebook page announcement said the trains will leave Hua Lamphong station at 7.10am, with a scheduled 11.32am arrival at Pa Sak Jolasid Dam station. The return trips will depart the dam at 3.30pm, arriving at Hua Lamphong station at 6.20pm.

Along the route, the trains will stop for passengers at Samsen, Bang Sue, Bang Khen, Lak Si, Don Muang, Rangsit, Ayutthaya, Saraburi, Kaeng Khoi, Kaeng Sua Ten and Rodfai Loynam “floating railway’’ viewpoint at the dam’s station.

A round-trip ticket per head for both adults and children is 290 baht for 3rd class carriages with fans, and 490 baht for 2nd class air-conditioned carriages.

The SRT can also provide special carriages for passengers travelling in groups, he said. They would be attached to the weekend train. Rates would vary depending on the type of carriage -- 51,400 baht for an air-conditioned carriage which could accommodate 110 people.

Intending travellers can buy advance tickets at all railway stations from Oct 11. Further information at the SRT’s Call Centre 1690 around the clock, the announcement said.
