NAKHON SI THAMMARAT: A man has confessed to killing a teenage girl when he fired angry shots at his neighbour's house after the father kicked him for filching his sweetened drink and pouring some out for a thirsty dog.

Anusak Daengdet, 27, admitted he killed Sasiprapha Yisoonsaem, 14, when he fired several rounds from his shotgun at the house of the girl's father in Moo 11 village of tambon Pak Phun in Muang district last Friday, Pol Maj Gen Sonthichai Awatanakulthep, chief of Muang Nakhon Si Thammarat police station, said on Monday.

Mr Anusak said he regretted the girl's death, but at the time of the attack he could not control his temper.

Wichai Yisoonsaem, the girl's 39-year-old father, said that last Friday he became angry when Mr Anusak took the liberty of grabbing a cup of sweetened drink he had bought at a shop and pouring some out for a dog to drink. So he scolded Mr Anusak and kicked him.

He said he and his neighbour had never had a conflict before and frequently teased each other.

The shots were fired at his house later, when Mr Wichai was out and his daughter was watching TV at home. She was hit in the head and succumbed to her wound the following day.

According to Pol Maj Gen Sonthichai, Mr Anusak and four friends launched the attack at the victim's house. One of the friends, Watchara Wannamas, 26, was also arrested.

The three other suspects - Watana Anantakhal, 28, Khunphol Ngernliam, 25, and Wisanu Nakkhong, 27 -- were at large, the chief said.
