Chinese man rescued from sea off Phuket beach

PHUKET: A Chinese man has been resuscitated after almost drowning in the sea off Nai Harn Beach in tambon Rawai.

The man was identified as Dong Xuyan, a 42-year-old Chinese tourist, said Rawai mayor Aroon Solos.

Mr Dong was reportedly underwater for five minutes before being rescued on Tuesday morning. A lifeguard at the scene performed CPR, and the tourist was transported to Chalong Hospital where he is now under treatment.

Mr Dong was conscious but unable to speak. He was to be transferred later to Vajira Hospital in Bangkok.
