Col Prapat Chan-o-cha, the father of Prime Minister Prayut, has died at Siriraj Hospital. He was 97.
Col Prapat was being treated at the hospital after he had a stroke. He earlier showed dementia symptoms for some time, according to a source close to him.
Gen Prayut left Government House for the hospital at 11.20am on Monday. His father was pronounced dead shortly after.
A royally sponsored bathing rite wil be held at Wat Sommanat in Bangkok at 5pm on Wednesday. Guests are advised not to bring wreaths.
