NAKHON RATCHASIMA: A woman died while riding in a Yasothon-Samut Prakan van with nine other passengers on board, according to a police report.

Police said the woman, Khamnien Phumkhokrak, 57, of Yasothon's Muang district, was found dead when the van stopped at a petrol station shortly after midnight on Sunday.

The van left Yasothon with 10 passengers, among them Khamnien, who was sitting on a seat behind the driver. When the van stopped at Borabue district of Maha Sarakham province, she was still seen talking to other passengers.

But when the van stopped again at a petrol station on the eastern ring road of the Nakhon Ratchasima township for the passengers to go to the toilets, Khamnian's daughter who was sitting by her mother asked her if she would get off, but the mother did not reply. The daughter checked and found her mother had died, prompting her to call the police.

The body was sent to Maharat Nakhon Ratchasima Hospital for examination to establish the cause of death. An initial inquiry of her relatives revealed that she had a liver disease.
