Drug-high son beats mum with bicycle

NAKHON SI THAMMARAT: A woman was seriously injured when her drug-addicted son beat her with his bicycle in Tha Sala district on Sunday night, police said.

Pol Sr Sgt Maj Suthisak Jehwang said they were called to a house at Moo 7 village in tambon Tha Sala  about 8pm.

A blood-soaked woman, Ropicha Bailae, 65, was being tended by neighbours when the police arrived. She had a 10-centimetre wound to her head and was taken to Tha Sala Hospital.

Eyewitnesses told police her son, Somchai Sante, inflicted the damage. They said he usually went wild when he was high on drugs. On this ocassion he picked up his bicycle and beat her with it, before riding off on it.

He was on a record as a drug addict, police said.

Police were looking for Mr Somchai, and said he would face legal action.
