SAMUT PRAKAN: Three people were killed in two separate accidents in Bang Phli district on Saturday and Sunday, police said.

In the first accident, which occurred at about 7.30pm on Saturday at kilometre marker 9 on the parallel road of the Bang Na-Trat highway, a man and his wife were killed after a motorcycle they were travelling on was run over by a six-wheeled truck.

The man was identified as Somchai Arunprapapan, 58, and his wife as Mrs Ratchanee, 55.

Chakrapong Chonyuth, 34, the truck driver, said that his vehicle was travelling towards Bang Na in the middle lane, with a bus driving in the right lane. He said he was unaware there was a motorcycle driving between them.

He suddenly felt his truck run over something, and stopped to take a look. He found the motorcycle had been crushed underneath the truck and the couple had been killed.

An investigation was underway to establish the cause of the accident.

In another accident that happened at about 4am on Sunday, a man driving a motorcycle was killed after ramming into the rear of an 18-wheeled lorry in a soi leading to Wat Sriwaree Noi temple in tambon Bang Chalong of Bang Phli district. He was identified as Nathapol Kularpkhao, 33.

Praiwan Panyawan, 35, the lorry driver, said he was heading for a factory to unload goods when the accident took place.

Police were investigating.
