Bangkok and surrounding areas were again covered in smog on Wednesday, with PM2.5 dust exceeding safe levels at 27 air-quality monitoring stations.

The Pollution Control Department (PCD) measured PM2.5 particulate levels at 39-64 microgrammes per cubic metre, exceeding the government's safety standard of 50 mcg in 27 areas of Bangkok and surrounding provinces. 

The affected areas included parts of Bang Khun Thien district (Kanchanapisek Road and Rama II Road), Pathumwan (Rama IV Road), Din Daeng (Din Daeng Road), Bung Kum district, Klong Sam Wa district, Chom Thong district, Samphanthawong district (Trimit Road), Wang Thong Lang district (Soi Lat Prao 95), Bang Rak district (Narathiwat Road), Bang Kho Laem district, Yannawa district (Rama III Road), Suan Luang district (Pattanakarn Road), Don Muang district, Sai Mai district, Bang Kapi district, Lat Krabang district (Lat Krabang Road), Bangkok Noi district, Pasicharoen district, Phra Nakhon district, Klong Toey district, Thung Song Hong district, Bang Khen district, Phra Pradaeng and Muang districts of Samut Prakan and Krathumbaen ditrict of Samut Sakhon.

In the North, PM2.5 particulate levels were measured at 24-75 mcg, with dust exceeding the safety levels in two areas - tambon Wiang Pangkham in Mae Sai district of Chiang Rai and tambon Jongkham in Muang district of Mae Hong Son, the PCD reported.
