Chachoengsao PAO chief infected, points to Lumpini stadium

CHACHOENGSAO: The chairman of the Chachoengsao provincial administration organisation (PAO) has revealed he is infected with the coronavirus, sending shockwaves through the local community because of the large number of social activities he has attended.

Kitti Paopiamsap posted on his Facebook page under the name of "Phuyai Kai Rak Paetriew" at 8.50pm on Sunday saying that a laboratory test at Paolo Hospital confirmed he was infected with Covid-19.

He believed he contracted the virus while at Lumpini Boxing Stadium on March 6. Actor and singer Mathew Deane Chanthavanij also revealed on the social media on March 13 that he contracted the virus while at the boxing stadium the same day.

The chief of the Army Welfare department is also infected with Covid-19. He also regularly attends Lumpini boxing stadium. 

Mr Kitti said on his Facebook page he had been admitted to a hospital for treatment. He was concerned about the many people he had been in close contact with at various social functions from March 6-15. He asked them to go in self-observation and strictly comply with advice from the Public Health Ministry.

Functions he attended included a merit-making ceremony at a cock fighting ring and an activity at Tambon Napho Hospital in Sanam Chai Khet district on March 6.

On March 7, Mr Kitti went to five wedding ceremonies, two annual temple fairs, at Wat Phai Kaew in Plaeng Yao district and Wat Sanamchan in Ban Pho district, and a funeral at Wat Dong Yang in Ban Pho district.

On March 8, he took part in the International Women's Day celebration in Phanom Sarakham district, attended a fair at the Chachoengsao Rajabhat University and a funeral at Wat Traisoranakom in Bang Pakong district.

On March 9, he visited an elderly people's group in Bang Nam Priew district and attended a funeral at Wat Sam Yaek in Bang Pakong district.

Mr Kitti attended two ordination ceremonies in Bang Nam Priew district and a function of the women's group of Klong Takrao tambon administration organisation in Tha Takiap district on March 10.

He was at a funeral at Wat Sukharam in Bang Pakong on March 11.

On March 12, he met with representatives of the elderly from all districts, had a meeting with Muslim people in Bang Nam Priew and attended the funeral of a former abbot in Phanom Sarakham district.

He was also at a funeral in Bang Phai district on March 13.

On March 14, Mr Kitti went to a wedding in tambon Klong Luang Peng and an ordination ceremony in Muang district.

He had met hundreds of people, some of them very closely, at these functions.
