Uttama goes into 14 days' isolation

Finance Minister Uttama Savanayana has gone into self-isolation after a police officer providing security for him tested positive for Covid-19, according to Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana, the minister's secretary.

Uttama: Covid-19 test results pending

Mr Uttama began his 14 days of self-isolation yesterday. The police officer sat in the front vehicle of the minister's motorcade, said finance permanent secretary Prasong Poontaneat.

Mr Thanakorn said the policeman reported to work most recently on March 11. He later became ill and went for a check-up which later confirmed his infection. Mr Uttama apparently knew about the officer's infection yesterday and he immediately underwent a medical test, the result of which is pending.

On Tuesday, Mr Uttama was at the weekly cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha.
