PHUKET: There were no new Covid-19 cases reported to the provincial communicable disease committee on Wednesday, leaving the provincial tally at 214.

Of the 214 confirmed cases, 173 have recovered and been released, 38 still under treatment, with two in serious condition, and two deaths. Another confirmed infection died from injuries received in a motorcycle crash.

Health officials will continue to extend testing to find new active cases among people in high risk groups in areas known to be infectious, the committee said at a media briefing on Wednesday.

Although it is now Ramadan, Muslim people were advised to avoid gathering for religious activities in mosques and other locations, to stay at home, wear a face mask outdoors and strictly observe the social-distancing rule.
