Escapees recaptured in Sakon Nakhon

Four of the five inmates who escaped from a prison in Sawang Daen Din district of Sakon Nakhon province on Friday have been recaptured, Corrections Department director-general Pol Col Naras Savestanan said on Monday.

The five prisoners, all in for drug offences, broke out of a detention cell for new inmates in 14-day quarantine about 2am on May 1. They then scaled the prison wall and fled.

The Sawang Daen Din prison is for offenders serving sentences of up to  two years.

Panupong Khotchompu was recaptured on Saturday at a house in Kham Ta Kla district of Sakon Nakhon province.

Patpong Ketkhamsai, 32, surrendered to Kham Ta Kla police on Sunday.

Suriyan Suphanprasert was detained at a resort in Kham Ta Kla district on Monday morning, and  Wattanachai Panpakdi surrendered to Kam Ta Kla police on Monday afternoon.

The fifth escapee, Anon Lakkham, was still on the run.
