Four new Covid-19 cases found in Phuket

PHUKET: Four new Covid-19 cases have been reported in this southern island province, adding up the tally to 224, the provincial communicable disease committee announced on Sunday. No new fatalities were recorded.

The four additional cases in Phuket were not included in the nationwide tally on Sunday, which reported five new cases. They will be added to the national report on Monday.

Of the 224 confirmed cases, 191 have recovered and been discharged, three died and 29 are still in treatment. One patient died from a motorcycle accident.

The four new cases - the 221st to 224th - are:

- A Thai woman, 23, who was an assistant secretary at a firm and lived in Soi Pasak 4 in tambon Choeng Thale of Thalang district. She fell sick on May 2. An investigation was underway into the infection;

- A Thai woman, 29, who was an assistant to the manager of a convenience store. She lived in Soi Nasua 4 on Chaofa Tawan Tok road in tambon Wichit of Muang district. She became sick on May 7. An investigation was underway;

- A Thai man, 19. He was a student who lived in tambon Wichit of Muang district. He fell sick on May 6. The case was being investigated;

- A Thai man, 29, who was a government official. He lived in tambon Patong of Kathu district. He fell sick on May 2. This case was also being investigated.

The new patients had been in high-risk areas.
