Both the BTS Skytrain and the MRT subway has announced they will adjust their service hours, following the government's cut of the curfew by one hour to 11pm-4am.

The new closing time of the BTS will be 10.30pm instead of 9.30pm, said Surapong Laoha-unya, CEO of Bangkok Mass Transit System Plc (BTSC), operator of the BTS Skytrain, on Saturday

Effective from Sunday, the change applies to every BTS station on both the Sukhumvit and Silom lines until further notice, he said.

Despite improvements in the Covid-19 outbreak situation, strict hygiene measures continue to be implemented at every BTS station, he said.

All passengers are required to wear a face mask, clean their hands with hand-sanitising gel provided at every entrance and exit point, practise social distancing and cooperate with BTS staff conducting body temperature checks.

Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) governor Pakapong Sirikantaramas said Bangkok Expressway and Metro Plc (BEM), the operator of MRT, will adjust service hours of the Blue Line to 6am-10.30pm and the Purple Line to 5.30am-10.30pm, taking effect on Sunday.

The State Railway of Thailand also announced the resumption from tomorrow of 42 train services covering routes between Bangkok and surrounding provinces and long-haul train services to and from provinces including Chiang Mai, Ubon Ratchathani, Nong Khai and Thungson district in Nakhon Si Thammarat.

Over the past week, the average number of rail passengers has risen by between 30,000 and 40,000 per day on weekdays compared to the previous week.
