Heavy rain is forecast for most of the Andaman provinces until at least Thursday.

The weather office issued a warning for Ranong south to Satun. Winds brought by the seasonal southwest monsoon could raise waves up to two metres high in the Andaman Sea.

Elsewhere, scattered rain is predicted for less than half the country, with a 30% chance of rain over most of Greater Bangkok throughout the week.

The wet season started officially on May 18, and brought strong winds to eight provinces in the northern, northeastern and central regions on Saturday, damaging 272 houses with no reports of injuries, the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department said on Monday morning.

It said drought is still predominant in 29 provinces of the northern, northeastern and eastern regions.
