Man drowns when storm capsizes boat

KHON KAEN: A 62-year-old bus driver drowned in a swamp when his small flat-bottomed boat capsized during a strong storm in Muang district on Monday afternoon.

Pol Capt Sithisak Polasaen, of Muang police, said the man was reported missing about 4.30pm in Bung Thung Sang swamp

Police and rescuers from Sawang Khon Kaen Samakkhi Uthit Foundation began a search for Boonsuan Nareechan, who normally drives a No.9 bus in Khon Kaen city. 

They found his body about four hours later. 

Kesinee Saengmeekhun, 31, told police that she saw Boonsuan fishing from a small flat-bottomed boat in the middle of the swamp. A sudden storm blew into the area, the small boat was overturned and Boonsuan disappeared into the water.

She called 191 for help.
