Stranded Russians fly home from Phuket

PHUKET: Seventy-eight Russian tourists who were stranded in Thailand by the Covid-19 pandemic flew home on a special flight on Tuesday night.

They were seen off at the international terminal lounge by immigration police and airport staff holding placards with a message in Russian “До скорой встречи”, which means "See you soon".

They left on Aurora Airlines flight SHU5495 from Phuket international airport via Shanghai, China.

The special flight was arranged by the Russian consulate through the Foreign Ministry.
