Big drug bust in Chiang Mai's Fang, 8 arrested

CHIANG MAI: A combined government force seized 800,000 methamphetamine pills and 10 kilogrammes of heroin and arrested eight suspects in Fang district on Monday night, Pha Muang Force deputy commander Col Narit Thavornwong said in a press conference on Tuesday.

The force included soldiers from the 4th Cavalry Regiment and police from the 3rd Division of the Narcotic Suppression Bureau.

At about 8pm, while patrolling along Highway 1249 authorities, they signalled a white Toyota pick-up and a Honda car to stop for a search at a spot in tambon Mae Ngon in Fang district.

They found and seized eight bags containing about 800,000 meth pills and 10kg of heroin in the two vehicles Eight suspects were arrested, but two others managed to escape.

The seized drugs and suspects were handed over to Fang police for further legal action.
