Passenger sorry for hissy fit

A man seen in a video blasting airline workers and destroying their computer after missing a flight has apologised and compensated the victims.

The video went viral on Saturday evening showing a woman scolding the workers and a man throwing a tantrum, threatening to file a complaint with the Consumer Protection Board.

Both passengers seemed to have missed their flight. The man can be seen furiously throwing the airline workers' computer on the floor.

The incident took place at Don Mueang airport, near a Thai AirAsia boarding gate for a flight to Khon Kaen.

Before the man left the scene, airport security took him into custody while the airline filed a complaint with police, said Pol Lt Col Konthee Suthipoon, deputy superintendent of immigration office at the airport.

Pol Lt Col Konthee said the man later came to Don Mueang police station, apologised and admitted he had been late to board the flight.

He paid for the damages and compensated the airline, he added.

The policeman said every airline has their boarding time rules, some allowing passengers to board late.

But aggressive passengers can be denied the right to board for the sake of everyone else on the flight, he said.

Pol Col Kissana Phathanacharoen, a deputy spokesman for the Royal Thai Police, said the man was a mid-rank police officer who worked in Kalasin before he resigned from the force to run a business in 2014.
